UK Drivers Unaware Of Insurance Small Print
A worrying survey has revealed that the vast majority of drivers in the UK are totally oblivious with regard to the potential to invalidate their car insurance if they are involved in any number of traffic violations. It seems that the vast majority are under the impression that your insurance will cover you no matter what you are doing on the road!
While the figure who were unaware that traffic violations could invalidate their car insurance was 65%, a staggering 82% have never considered checking the terms and conditions of an insurance policy before signing up to the cover. However, on the upside it seems that the law is as lax as many drivers in the UK with only 3% of drivers receiving a ban from the roads despite many having being involved in a number of motoring offences.
The more common offences are speeding (79%), using a mobile phone while driving (66%) and driving through red lights (18%). This is just a snap shot of the world of the UK driver but it is one which is edging ever closer to confrontation with the law. Once the authorities recognise that many of the common offences in the UK could bring in substantial income (as with speed cameras) they will no doubt be a little more proactive!
